the Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity(from the preamble to the party's constitution). If you think that's a good plan, why not help the party?

Bad Wolf, Torchwood, Mr Saxon, etc., are Doctor Who's heavy handed attempts at doing the same and have made some fans scrutinise things too much (as if anything was needed to make some fans do that). (And RTD likes fucking with the minds of this group of fans, see also Jack = Face of Boe.)
The "everything must be shown" mentality ("gimme time war mini series with McGann and Eccleston now!") amongst certain fans means that the Queen Elizabeth gag from two seasons ago MUST be explained before the Doctor regenerates. Sigh. (Again RTD, who sometimes realises that it's better not to explain or show everything, is not beyond fucking with the minds of this sort of fan.)
More interestingly from a storytelling point of view, the new show has developed the concept of the Doctor to the point where the idea that he is capable of doing almost anything is important. RTD is exploring the bad side of that concept in the specials whilst the Moff has previously tended to explore the lighter side.
So, maybe he was babbling, but maybe he was telling the truth. And why not? "He's the Doctor, he can do anything!" or "He's the Time Lord Triumphant, he really can do anything..." depending on his mood.
I must have been lucky, most of the reactions I've seen have been LOLs rather than flailings.
Though I've missed the Who fanstorms by avoiding most fan forums after the thousandth 'Gallifrey/the Rani/Sgt Benton/Pertwee-era comedy yokels are definitely returning in the next special' thread.
Though for real 'we no like ambiguity' fights, Stargate fans are fun at the moment...
It's playing the game of trying to make everything fit together logically, and then becoming confused and thinking it's the point.
