Doctor Who SQUEEE!!!
Sunday, April 11th, 2010 01:15 amIt had The Demon Headmaster in it! And Sophie was the Queen! And... and... Oh, look, I've completely lost my reason. It was flawed, yes, but it was proper Doctor Who, and last week wasn't just a fluke, and I am SO happy that I have my show back.
And next week Ian McNeice is going to be Winston Churchill! How cool is that? YAY!
A more reasoned review may follow when I watch it again. Which I will.
I want to watch it again! This is the first time this has happened since Eccleston! HEEEE!

Date: Sunday, April 11th, 2010 12:51 am (UTC)I was seriously glued to the screen. Such a difference in watchability than the previous series. I thought the Tennant stuff was entertaining enough but I now I realise how good it could have been.
It also felt more like (obviously low-brow) SciFi than anything in the last few years. Also, no angst!
Smith's Doctor is so different and yet typically Doctor. I didn't think a really young one would work but it does.
If only the CGI monsters didn't look so plasticky. To be honest, I'd rather have crappy mechanical latex monsters than crappy CGI because the actors can at least physically interact with them. I finished watching Planet of the Daleks with Pertwee today. A bit cringeworthy in places but good fun.
I had to look up the "Demon Headmaster" because it didn't ring a bell (I still have cultural reference deficiency in these things) and first thought it was a previous Who villain but that wouldn't have made sense. Was a good series, then?
