I Agree With Nick!
Thursday, April 15th, 2010 10:35 pmHow many times did the other two say those words tonight? You know what? If you really agree with Nick, don't vote for the other two, vote Lib Dem.

As the song says, it's time to take the power back.

As the song says, it's time to take the power back.

Date: Thursday, April 15th, 2010 11:11 pm (UTC)But as moriarty points out above, it's all about Getting Out The Vote. After all, how many people tonight were watching EastEnders or drinking beer down the pub rather than paying attention to the events in Manchester?

Date: Friday, April 16th, 2010 09:30 am (UTC)Nick Clegg undoubtedly walked it, though I take the view that was more to do with the inherent advantage of being a party free from the taint of previous goverments.
Had I been in David Cameron's position I would have inclined to pull something previsouly unannounced out of the hat to knock the wind out of Mister Clegg's sails; I daresay it will be a cold day in hell before it happens but I fail to understand why the Conservative and Unionist position on electoral reform cannot be 'We disagree with the case for change but the goverment is elected by the people so it should be up to the people to decide and commit to hold a referendum on the the various options (FPTP; AV; AV+; STD)
A very big error on David Cameron's part was I think drawing attention to the Liberal Democrat policy on the basic rate income tax threshold; I would think in having the policy mentioned more than once the actual policy is going to lodge more in the minds of voters than any feeble rebuttal.

I'm sitting here with shivers up my spine because all of a sudden people are talking about possibilities I never thought would be talked about. People who think a bit like me, people who are finally ready to give LDs a chance. It's fabulous and I'm going to savour it.
It's been a good week for me LD-wise as I attended the "Ask the Climate Question hustings" where I asked a question which Tim Farron our incumbent Lib Dem MP answered very intelligently, and I then ended up in the pub with him and my parents who have been doing some serious canvassing for him. It's all terribly exciting :D
