An Observation on the nature of love.

In between getting on with a person and being willing to sacrifice everything for thier happiness there's a line, and somewhere along that line is the point where you say you're in love with that person. I think the world would be a less hurtful place if that point was in the same place on the line for everyone, so that when someone tells you that they love you you know what it means, and it means the same as what you mean when you tell someone you love them.

Whatever prompted you to post that, sympathy. I guess everyone's life is different & nobody travels baggage free & emotions aren't quantifiable. I am also not sure it's ever a good idea to sacrifice everything for another's happiness. There has to be giving in a relationship but both ways.

Oh yes, I'm not saying that kind of madness is healthy, but that is it on the continuum.

*nods* Even in my own self, it varies from day to day. Sometimes I can give everything I have and that's still only just enough to fill a baked bean tin. Other days I have plenty and to spare.

Sadly, 'love' is not just subjective, but means many different things in different contexts. Take for example, the context I'm about to use it in:

I love you
I hope you're OK.
