Apologies, and an appeal

Sorry for the hiatus in the blog awards. On the plus side, I passed my belt grading for karate last night. On the minus side, Byron has suspected cancer. He is booked in to the vet on Thursday for (hopefully) removal and cure. But we don't know at this point what's going to be involved; the vet doesn't know until he's gone in and extracted bits for testing. I suspect we are looking at a minimum of £400.

I haven't got £400.

UPDATE: thanks to the wonderful generosity of The Internet we should be fine now. Thank you all. Closing comments on this post now, so that if people miss this update they aren't still offering.

What I have got is lots of Collectable Stuff. So I'm going to make an offer here, oh internets. If I have any Stuff that you might want, make me an offer. Stuff is Stuff, but Byron is my baby, and my house is too full of Stuff anyway. I am willing to sell any of it to help make my baby better.

Things that I have which some of you might want to buy:

• Ropey old Ford Ka that needs its brakes fixing
• hundreds of CDs, including this Queen box set with all the packaging intact
• Lots and lots of books including folio society stuff, and the unseen university editions of much Pratchett. Also lots of complete Sherlock Holmes's in various editions
• hundreds of DVDs, including lots of Star Trek and Doctor Who - for example all the Trek box sets, all 4 series of Blake's 7, all the red dwarf, etc.
• Lots and lots of rare/limited edition/etc. vinyl - 6 foot bookcase full of it
• various action figures and things

The list is not exhaustive, but it gives you a flavour. If there's something you want, whatever it is, ask me if I've got it and we'll go from there - although checking the comments to see if someone else hasn't already asked might be a plan. At this point I am willing to consider most offers because it all adds up, but I need the money quickly, so you'll understand if I ask for bank transfer or cash over the counter only; no cheques or paypal.

No, sadly not. And I don't qualify for the PDSA because I'm not on JSA/IS benefits. And the BLue Cross might consider me, but the nearest one is in Birmingham...

I have a first edition of the collected Holmes which is probably now worth about 50p, having been not only foxed but badgered and possibly wolved by four generations of my family (the pages are loose and it has been rebound in wallpaper)

I have at least two ordinary hardback editions as well.

And... I have a giant (broadsheet newspaper page size by six inches thick) edition which cost £75 new and is made of reproductions of the original Strand Magazine chapters in the original format. It's beautiful, but I'd only want to sell it if you were near enough to pick it up because it would cost a FORTUNE to post.

Here via innerbrat; I'm in the US, but I'd love to help your dog. I don't need to buy anything or get anything in exchange except perhaps a print picture of your pup. I'm a huge dog fiend.

But like I said, I'm in the US.

I have no idea how to handle the currency transfer to send you my spare $20 (which is all I have spare, or I'd send more) – if there is anyone willing to stand in as an intermediary so I can paypal them and they'll give you the money in GBP, I would be willing to do that. I want to be able to help. I don't think there's any way I can get funds overseas quickly enough, especially as mailing cash would take a week and be pretty useless.
