After the usual being asked the same questions about a million times, I ended up in emergency surgery. The surgical team (Linda, Claire, Carol, Olga the Anaesthetist, and Doctor Chan the surgeon) were absolutely amazing. I couldn't have wished for a safer set of hands.
Doctor Chan came to see me this morning to tell me what had happened. Gideon was apparently TWO cysts in one. There was a rock hard and very heavy part, about the size of an egg. This was constructed of bone and teeth, mostly, and Doctor Chan said it was the most solid and heavy one she had ever dealt with. This egg-sized-thing was nestled in a bag of fluid about the size of a grapefruit, which had grown noticably since the scan. When I fell, the heavy egg-sized-thing had moved in the fluid and wrapped the whole lot around my uterus.
Initially she tried to get it out with keyhole surgery, but the egg-sized-thing couldn't be cut up inside me without risking damage to other tissues, so I have three keyholes and a slot about three inches long. I feel SO much better, better than I have for weeks. Also, Doctor Chan told me that if I hadn't fallen, I would have ended up in A&E for emergency surgery before Christmas the rate Gideon was growing.
I now have to have 6 weeks off work, and I'm not allowed to do heavy lifting or karate for at least 3 months.
This sucks.
