They kept her in the fridge, taking her out when they felt convenient. It's not as though they knew about her shelf life at that point.

I think in the context of the story it makes sense why they kept putting her back in the fridge- Karzan Snr would be wondering why his "security" is walking around singing to the fish. Wake her up, give her a good time, pop her back before anyone notices, and feel like you're doing something fun, naughty, and subversive all at the same time.

But I wasn't particularly impressed though.
