A meme by MightyGodKing.

THE IMAGINED SITUATION IS: The BBC has decided to air a one-time four-hour miniseries event of Doctor Who. The miniseries will be entitled “The Eleven Doctors” and feature every single Doctor as the cast, with a number of companions rounding it out.

Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant and Matt Smith will play the Eighth through Eleventh Doctors. (Some suggested that at 51 McGann was too old to play his Doctor, but fans argued that he deserved a second chance to play the Eighth Doctor again and really, 51? That’s not a big deal.) However, the remaining living former actors who have played the Doctor all agreed that they should let more age-appropriate actors play the younger incarnations of the earlier Doctors (perhaps with one or two making jokes about “the need for a sonic cane,”) and of course Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton and William Hartnell are all long dead.

So:

Who plays each of the first seven Doctors?

I'm going to twist this a bit. Here is my list answering the question:
  1. Michael Gambon
  2. David Suchet OR David Troughton
  3. Charles Dance
  4. John Sessions OR Hugh Laurie
  5. Michael Sheen
  6. Sam West
  7. Tony Robinson
I really really really disagree with his idea of putting Rickman in as 1; Rickman is way too sexy to be 1. He should be The Master. Also, James Nesbitt is SO WRONG for Six it's untrue. Just because YOU don't like Six doesn't mean you should cast someone totally inappropriate >:( Nesbitt can do the shouting yes, but he has no capability for the layers of Sixie. And he's bald, and what little hair he has left is dark and straight. And now... Now I'm going to give you eleven girls:
  1. June Whitfield
  2. Arabella Weir
  3. Annette Crosbie
  4. Frances de la Tour
  5. Georgia Moffatt
  6. Patricia Hodge OR Emma Thompson
  7. Prunella Scales
  8. Helena Bonham-Carter
  9. Angela Bruce
  10. Tamsin Grieg
  11. Gemma Arterton
Some of them are clearly older than the male equivalents were at the time, but...

Do feel free to tell me how wrong I am in the comments. It'll take my mind off today.

I am SO with you on Hugh Laurie for 4, although I'd be more than willing to put myself forwards for that role. I'd just need to tidy my hair up a bit and get some stilts. I've already got the scarf.

You can also put me down as a +1 for Alan Rickman as the Master. Hell, put me down for a +2.

Thank you. And sorry for grumpiness in reply to your earlier comment. I am having a bit of a rough day; made worse in that I can't blog about it.

Haha, I've just seen what you mean about grumpiness in your earlier response...

I hope whatever it is that's causing the grumpiness is resolved as quickly and painlessly as can be achieved.

I vote Hugh Laurie for 4, if only he can get his voice an octave lower. I'd worry that John Sessions would ham it up too much... yes, even more than Tom.

I see where you're coming from with Tony Robinson as 7, but I reckon Rowan Atkinson would be better at the verbal mannerisms. I don't know if he can play the spoons, though.

Actually, I think Tony Robinson would make a good 11 if he didn't look completely wrong.

Ooh, I think I'd go for - though this might well change by the time if/when I get round to blogging it myself:

1) Robert Glenister
2) Peter Firth
3) David Threlfall
4) Michael Sheen
5) Marc Warren
6) Sam West (yes, you're right about that)
7) James McAvoy

And I always thought of Laura Fraser as the female Ten.

Your take on who should play them works so well - they all have the ability as actors to play the kind of traits and personalities we saw in each Doctor.

And OH YES to Alan Rickman as The Master. Although I'd want him to win every time ♥

Wouldn't cast Nesbitt in anything. He's totally rubbish and pointless.

Tony Robinson is only three years younger than McCoy. If you'd happily have him, then you might as well just stick with the Real McCoy, as it were. He's a much better actor, after all.
