Whomageddon
Apr. 23rd, 2011 02:00 pmSo, the new series of Doctor Who starts tonight (nd, as usual, I'll be at bloody work when it's on). To say that excitement has reached fever pitch in this household would be a massive understatement.
matgb and
magister are both as excited as me, and it's only a shame that Hol is at her dad's for Easter, or she would be joining in too.
This is the first time in my adult life that I have been dead set certain a new series of Who is going to be awesome:
And yet... Even this fever pitch of excitement is tinged with sadness. I don't think I can say it better than they have over at URP:
When I finally get to see the showtonight in the early hours of tomorrow morning, I shall be having a little toast: to absent friends.

I urge you all to watch the tribute to Lis Sladen on CBBC between Who and Who Confidential. And if it's not on iPlayer when I get home there will be much swearing.
* which could be an issue, as this series now has a VERY high bar set for it...

This is the first time in my adult life that I have been dead set certain a new series of Who is going to be awesome:
- Ecclescake turned out to be awesome, but before the series aired we had no way of knowing how good he would be
- Tennant's first series I was apprehensive about because I hadn't enjoyed him in Blackpool or Casanova, and it turned out I didn't like his Doctor either
- The remaining Tennant series I didn't feel aniticpatory for because I didn't like Tennant's Doctor
- Smith's first series... well, what if he was worse than Tennant?
And yet... Even this fever pitch of excitement is tinged with sadness. I don't think I can say it better than they have over at URP:
