Layout is still screwed for some people, some of the time, in some browsers. I am aware of this, but am unable to replicate it on my machine, which makes it hard to fix. For now, a workaround you can use if this problem is affecting you, is to put "?style=mine" at the end of all the urls.

Additional to this, I am not getting comment notifications for all comments. For instance, last night's rather bad-tempered post has (currently) 19 comments on it. I got notified of one; so if you don't get a reply to your comment, it's (probably) not that I'm ignoring you, it's just that my comment notifying software is.

It's definitely worth lodging a support request for missing notifications.

The ?style=mine workaround doesn't work for me with your blog... but I've found that opening page using Chrome rather than Firefox or IE allows me to see the layout properly and therefore comment, which is very welcome!

...except now the problem has spread to Chrome too, so I'm back to square one.

Yes, this is the joy of "some people in some browsers some of the time".

I am going to try Andrew's fix which he suggests below. Or possibly above. I haven't checked.

Ah, the old ?style=mine trick, I totally forgot about it! Thanks for the reminder.

Though I do hope a solution to the problem comes up (whether found by you or dreamwidth) for people who do not have an account. It's rather odd, as it used to look perfectly normal and then one day it just... didn't. I'm on windows XP service pack 3, in Firefox 10.0.2 and it also looks wonky in old internet exploder (which I don't use but I tried it just to see). I haven't tried it on the linux half of my computer since I haven't been using it much lately, but that's also the same Firefox browser so I don't know if it would even matter if it's a browser issue.

I noticed the comment notification problem *at livejournal* a couple days ago, I wonder if dreamwidth's problem is related? I'd put in a support request for that, as I've gotten notifications for everything the last couple of days...

As a data point, it's broken for me in both Iceweasel and Chromium, but not in Epiphany, even though both Chromium and Epiphany are based on the same rendering engine (WebKit).

It's annoying enough that I'm going to have a poke at the CSS and see if I can figure out the problem...

I've figured out the fix. You need to delete the line:
margin-right:-100%;
from your stylesheet.css . Doing that fixes it in Iceweasel (Firefox) and Chromium, and doesn't break it on Epiphany. I don't have any other browsers to test it on, but I can guarantee that's the problem.

That line isn't in my custom css, so it must be something that's come from DW's reworking of the style...

Odd. Well, at least you know it's not anything you've done, and you can put in a support ticket with a precise line for them to fix...

Yes. Also, I apeear to have got comment notifications for all comments on this entry, so it seems to have just been a temporary thing.

Fixed, thankee, can you check it? Weirdly, it was displaying wrong on Jennie's Fx profile on my laptop, but not for me, same browser, same OS, same screen resolution, I think she had a different font setting which may've messed up the EMs they use for scaling, but it really shouldn't be that it displays differently for exactly the same browser on exactly the same machine.

anyway, had to put margin-right:0%; into #primary, that overrides the default, I'm guessing something else I did to theme it ages back conflicted with something they did.

Apparently it hasn't worked, or rather it's partially worked. Have emailed you andrew's comment that he can't make here :/

Also now my second sidebar is down below all other content. I might have to start again from scratch at this rate.

Mat as Jennie-how about now? I've commented out the float commands for the Header and Subtitle, it looks a bit off now but it seems to have fixed it here.

It's now fine, if you're logged in. However, the problem with the CAPTCHA overlapping the comment box still means that no-one who isn't logged in will be able to comment :-/

OK, that's utterly insane and I've done nothing that should affect that at all in any way whatsoever. I shall have another play later when my brain is less fried, but at least I've fixed the big problem easily.
