My gut reaction on that story's the same as yours, but I do note close to the bottom of the article "The court heard Holt suffered from a neurological disorder which meant he could ‘explode’ at any time." My opinion of him - not the specific behaviour or the way it was handled - might change a bit depending on the extent of the disorder.

He's not just exploding over something random. He pretty much admitted to a prejudice against Islam that got out of control.

I'm in favour of people with disabilities (neurological) or otherwise getting on in life. People like me are held back because society does not have a wide enough judgement of "normal" behaviour, and indeed makes some pretty damn nasty and unpleasant forms of behaviour acceptable.

Possibly my attitude to business leaders is the same as some people's attitudes to lottery winners; I think some people running businesses shouldn't be in such a position of responsibility. I wonder how a guy with such underlying attitudes got to be so "high powered".

It seems more than likely that he got what he deserved, disorder or no, but I would personally feel uncomfortable about passing an absolute judgment without more detail.

I also wonder about "high powered" businessmen, and the fact that he's described as one makes me less inclined to believe that he needs any slack cut for him - but it doesn't completely remove my doubt.

Cheers ears.

Sorry for the delay, but thanks for the reply. I appreciate the good manners.

To be honest while I wonder whether this guy is in a position of great responsibility, or just someone with delusions of his business acumen, I don't actually care enough for it to amount to anything more than a kind of rhetorical question.
