The Dr Nerdlove stuff is very good. Ever since I opted for a lady-dominated subject at university, I've had a lot of female friends, and I've seen countless Nice Guys lurking about. Quite often I've been viewed as an obstacle, because Nice Guys tend to assume that all other male friends of their victim must be playing the same game. And it's amazing how territorial and unpleasant a Nice Guy can become in the interests of 'protecting his "friend"'. Flying to Vienna for a mate's 25 birthday would have been much more fun without the psychopath sleeping in the bathroom in case my friend needed 'protecting' from this Norwegian guy and myself.

I agree with your assessment of Owen Jones' conclusion. Labour needs to decide once and for all whose side it's actually on - the people who founded it, or the people who already do very nicely out of the Tories thank you (as the Blairites keep urging). Some people are switching to them because they're the only non-Tory vote on the table, but not nearly enough, because they're not nearly opposition enough.

Trouble is, they haven't quite realised that the days of a split left-wing vote ended as soon as the Lib Dems signed up for coalition (sorry; it would have taken a miracle for the Lib Dems to avoid being tainted by that, no matter how the reality played out). Those of us committed to left wing ideals, whoever's pushing them, are just waiting for someone we can get behind - and cannot for the life of us understand why Labour aren't meeting that demand. I can only assume that for Blair to have taken control of the party in the first place, its spirit had to be so comprehensively broken that it could never stand up for itself again... since that appears to be what's happened.

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as intensive psychotherapy for political parties.

MEN UR DOING IT WRONG

Their first mistake is they always view women as alien beings that are completely different from them. And the resistance that comes up when you tell them otherwise is shocking.
