Asylum of the Daleks

I liked it. The Rory/Amy relationship stuff was a bit meh, but I loved Oswin, and I loved all the people-inside-the-daleks that Amy could see, and I loved Oswin, and the Doctor getting it before we did (and all the "eggs" peppered throughout the episode) was as it should be, and... oh yeah, I loved Oswin.

Now, I've been glancing around the interwebs, and it seems many other people liked Oswin too. It seems to me that every time a new kick-ass lady hero is intorduced in Who, the interwebs go mental. It happened with Madam Pompadour. It happened with River. It happened with Doctor's daughter Jenny. It happened with Madam Vastra & Jenny. Perhaps, and I'm just saying this as a perhaps, it shows that maybe there is some appetite out there for kick-ass female heroes?

Next week is icky Chibeers. But the cast looks good, and, you know, triceratops. SO I shall reserve judgement. Or try to, at least.

To be honest, I'd like to see eleventy do much of beigey-boy's era, but I may have a slight bias in that regard.

And yes, I discovered at that con in sheffield that Colin can reduce me to a giggling girlish fannish thing in a way that deputy prime ministers and party presidents can only dream of (although Vince came close). It turns out my inner seven year old blushes rather easily...

There were also quite a few really creepy bits for an early evening drama which I liked. The twist was to be expected but there was some good tension and it was well paced.

One spoilerfic question:
When did the episode take place? If Oswin is going to be the new companion, it will have to have been in the past or they will need to do some timey-whimey tinkering.

Possibly. Or we'll learn that she escaped somehow. Or the new companions actually her identical cousin. Well, it happened with Martha.

It would be well within the reach of Dalek technology (see The Chase, Resurrection of the Daleks) for Oswin's human form to be recreated; and Gallifreyan technology, for that matter.

An identical cousin couldn't be as sassy and kickass, though, could she? I'd be disappointed if that were the case.

And if he meets her at Christmas, that's set in Victorian London....
