That Seanan McGuire thing is truly horrible on many, many levels.

And yes, in this as in so much else, Moore is to blame. He's definitely *trying* to make a serious feminist point, but the end result has been first that he seems to be protesting too much, and secondly that it's legitimised rape as a storytelling device for people whose motivations are far less savoury.

I must admit to not having heard of Seanan McGuire before now but I really want to read their work now. Having to wiki the plot of every book or film to make sure I can read / watch it without being hit by something massively triggering gets boring very quickly.

I have heard of her, but not read any of her work (or not that I'm aware of). But I approve of her attitude.

Ack, too much "now" in that last comment, can I blame the Sudafed?

I think I'll buy a cheapie paperback off Amazon and if I like it, I'll probably buy the rest for my Kindle (my desire for books vastly outweigh my shelf space) and you'd be more than welcome to have the book afterwards. Of course, if it's rubbish then off to the charity shop but I like what I've seen thus far on t'internet :)

LOL Sudafed can quite easily be blamed.

And I am always happy to rehome books! I don't have a kindle, but HOlly loves hers. I'm holding out till I get my next phone in December, which is likely to be a reasonably-sized-screened Droid; I like the kindle app on androids.

She wrote the relatively decent zombie book Feed under the name Mira Grant, and the best thing in the rather disappointing Chicks Dig Time-Lords under her own name. Not a great writer, but popular among fandom, particularly LJ/DW-based fandom.

Ah. I did read SOME of Chicks Dig TImelords but found it so vapid...

Yeah, I thought it was awful, but she was the least-worst thing in it.
