I have a problem. A sixth Doctor shaped problem

Colin Baker is going to be on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. I hate that bloody show. I watched it when lovely Brian Paddick and lovely George Takei were on it, and I hated the show, I hated Ant and/or Dec and I hated the concept, even though those two guys were great.

This year Colin is going to be on it, so I thought "Oh bugger, I'm going to have to watch it again". But there's a complicating factor. Also appearing? Nadine Dorries. One of the very few people on this earth I cannot think of a civil thing to say about. If I watch it, I know I'm going to get the stressed Eric vein and homicidal urges. But there's Colin. Lovely, lovely Colin.

So, I turn to you, oh wise and all-knowing internets:

Depending on the whims of the editing team, it's very likely that it won't be lovely, lovely Colin that comes across, but tired, cross, grumpy Colin. I've met the latter (and, to be fair, the former), and this seems like a pretty unwise decision on his part.

Don't watch. You may end up discovering things about Colin that make you like him less. Plus, just imagine... what if there was a hot jungle romance between him and Nad? Dare you take the risk of seeing that, no matter how small?

I've never watched it, but thought of Dorries making a fool of herself is too delicious to resist. But I'll watch it on what ever ITV call iPlayer so I can fast forward all the boring bits (ie most of it). I fully intend to vote for Dorries having to endure the worst and most horrible things the show's producers can throw at her.

This may just see Dorries confirm that she is electoral toast, though I suspect that she is proceeding as if she is anyway (boundary changes or no boundary changes) and is making money while the going is good.

If it's any consolation, I expect to be watching at least one episode, possibly more, on the grounds that any half-decent game show scribbler should watch the ultra-popular shows at least once in a while.

If I'm a Celeb is anything like the sample episode of The X Factor last year, it might not be as bad as all that.

Life isn't all Richard Osman on next week's Only Connect, sadly.

One is left wondering whether it was his 'Come Dine With Me' appearence that put him on 'I'm a Celebrity...' producers radar or whether someone in the production office likes Big Finish and reads their online magazine, Vortex, in particular the wee article on 'Doctor Who - The Archeron Pulse' in whcih Colin Baker had the following to say on the subject of more reality television appearences -

''...There are certain ones I would try to resist doing, like Dancing on Ice', because it hurts when you fall over, I doubt they'd ask me and I doubt I'd be any good at it! So you never know perhaps the jungle will make him feel fifteen years younger and Strictly will see a Doctor take part in Doctor Who golden anniversary year.

Cannot say I will be watching myself as it is not really my cup of tea. Aye, the tea might very well be in a fine cup but it is still tea.
