Vegetarians will already be avoiding many "naturally" flavored/colored raspberry things anyway, because natural red coloring is also not vegetarian.

I discovered the difference between bugs and beetles when I moved into this house, five years ago, and discovered that it was periodically visited by the odd shield bug. No insect has ever scared me more in flight... those things are LOUD! Cute, though, and quite harmless (as long as you don't scare them and then inhale through your nose; they have stink glands, apparently, though I never smelled any evidence of them).

Unfortunately the tree that played host to them was cut down a couple of years ago and they haven't been back since.

We were discussing that in the pub last night. Unfortunately the discussion only got as far as "It's not like anyone would lick a beaver" before getting slightly derailed...

While I doubt that Canadian beaver arse sacs have made it over here, I can understand how it came to be...

"You remember that thing we had to eat in the middle of last winter when I was five minutes away from wanting to cook and eat your leg? Swear to God, it tasted of strawberries!"

(Five minutes, several drinks, several repetitions of "Go on, eat it" and "I can't believe you're going to eat it!" later) "Holy crap it totally does!"

Also, they've totally missed a trick by not advertising it as a "tetris cake tin" :D
