In the mornings, I get up, I feed and dress my daughter, I walk her to school, I walk back home. When I get back home (at this time of year) I am freezing cold, still half-asleep (I am so not good at mornings) and full of grump.

I get undressed, having decided to crawl back under the duvet for half an hour or so. I try not to disturb [livejournal.com profile] matgb too much, but to no avail. He's woken up and is rolling over for a cuddle. There is a sharp intake of breath as he feels how cold I am. I expect him to pull away, but he doesn't. He wraps both arms around me and rubs life back into my legs and snuggles me close to help me to warm up.

I go from cold and miserable and grumpy to warm and happy and safe in the space of a minute. It's moments like this that make life worth living.
