So the pound is in freefall, and the markets haven't even opened yet.
The Nikkei and the Nasdaq have both suspended trading.
We've embraced xenophobia and nationalism.
We've given Nigel fucking Farage what he wanted.

How do I explain this to my daughter?
How do I forgive my mum for voting leave?

Yip. Some of my family voted Leave too. I've just had to explain this to a very sad son. Hazel doesn't seem chuffed either.

That's the worst. How do I speak to my father again?

My entire family voted remain- I was crashing at my parent's house last night and came downstairs this morning to discover my mother in something of a state of shock (similar to the one I'm in now), who let me know the news.

My Mum will have voted Leave. The thing I tell myself is that the margin was over a million people and she didn't make the difference. It helps to diffuse it across everyone who voted us out and make it less personal.

Sending hugs from across the pond. When I was going to bed, it seemed to be leaning "remain" and I had some hope. :(

The Ani-parents MUST have voted Leave, because they believe everything they are spoon fed by the Daily Fail. SG's Dad REGISTERED TO VOTE so he could vote Leave because he seems to be surrounded by racists too. I hate how this campaign has split not just the country, but families too. Those who voted Leave won't see "change" quick enough, and 48% of those that voted are not heard.

I hate that my parents always vote Tory. Always. Never mind about shifting policies, times, the global situation. I hate that they stole my vote when I was 18 and knew no better and voted Tory myself. NEVER AGAIN. I'm amazed I'm as sane as I am with that example. I'm struggling with how to even talk to my parents right now.

What about "Britain"? Scotland and Northern Ireland voted Remain. How long before "Great Britain" is just "England and Wales" or total devolution and we're just trapped with right wing English Tory Governments FOREVER.

Ack.

Both my parents voted Leave, and I feel sick to my stomach that they will be cheering about this. I can't even bring myself to speak to them, I don't want to fallout with them over this but I just know it could so easily happen.

I think I could come to the position with my Mum, but my Dad? Totally different situation there - he is very vocal and stuck in his ways. Though given they are both Scottish, I will be very interested to hear how they feel their fellow Scots voted to remain.
