Internal Party Elections
Saturday, October 16th, 2010 11:37 amWoe! My party election pack hasn't arrived yet! Yay! Mat's has, and he's still asleep, so I can sneak a peek at his....
At first glance the most difficult set of candidates to order is going to be for FPC. There are SO many people on that list I want to get on there, and only a couple that I really don't want. I would love to tell you who those are, but unfortunately federal party rules do not allow me to do so because this would count as electronic campaigning. Whoever gets on to all the committees needs to push for streamlining of the rules in all internal party elections so that they are all the same, and in particular abandonment of this ridiculous restriction. It's stupid that the party presidential candidates can campaign online as much as they like, but candidates for other internal party elections' friends and supporters can't even say
That pattern is repeated, more or less, throughout the lists. There are a few I really want to get on the committees, a couple I really don't, and a number I have never heard of.
So I'm going to go through the manifesto booklets, and decide who out of those I haven't heard of writes a good manifesto, and then I reckon I shall do a little database to decide how to vote. Caron makes a good point that there is no rush, so I'm going to make a proper job of this.
Is it sad that I find the prospect exciting?
* ETA: reading that back, it reads like sarcasm: it's honestly not. Those really are just three people whose names I recognise who caught my eye.

vote Elisabeth Wilsonor
vote Evan Harrisor even
vote Richard Flowersto give three totally random examples that just happened to catch my eye*, without falling foul of the rules...
