Despite lovely [profile] crashmatt's last minute offer of a lift...

... I'm going to be good and not go and stalk Sam West tomorrow. I can't afford to, for one thing (£20 on tickets is a couple of rounds of drinks on thursday even at London prices, I'd wager) and for another thing it's going to be difficult to sort out the Shrub-sitting, and Ian will just be difficult.

And I'd only sit there and stare and go red anyway...

Stupid self

Had a lovely time watching TG with [livejournal.com profile] puddingcat last night; we practically laughed ourselves sick.

Hurrah for the cricket!

* happy dance *

Watched the last bit of Castrovalva this morning - hurrah! for Ainley!Master flashing bare flesh!

I did pants at climbing this afternoon, don't know why. Am going to go and soak in a hot bath and try not to think too much about the chipmunk that they've cast in Ant's part for season 29 of Who, or the fact that I've just chosen Sandi Toksvig over Sam West.

* smoochies for [livejournal.com profile] crashmatt anyway for the offer *

You'll have to come over for a drinkie one evening.

Hm. I really ought to buy the New Beginnings boxset at some point. I haven't seen Castrovalva in years..and its one of Dear Michael's appearences, too.

Ehehehehehehehe yes, I recognised him by voice before I realised it was him - "Oh shit, that sounds like Mr Bronson! It IS Mr Bronson!"

I hadn't seen any of the Return of the Master box since first broadcast, so it was quite an interesting experience for me - partly as a reminder of just HOW CRAP Tom's last series was, and the writing... oh God the writing... the whole of Logopolis and Castrovalva could have been done in about three episodes. Bloody Bidmead.

That's not to say I didn't enjoy it though ;)

Hey, now!! I'm going to LA despite the fact that I cannot afford it AT ALL, just to meet Colin. I think Ian being his typical twattish self isn't a valid excuse, but not being able to find a sitter for Shrub, yeah, that's a better one.

*wishes you would still go see Sam*

*sigh* I really miss Michael. Redemption isn't gonna be the same without him.

Oh god, I know...and Bidmead thinks to *this day* that he was the 'saviour' of DW, but no one truly appreciated his genius. Ever read any of his write-ups and interviews? Talk about bitter...

I always thought of him as that soldier character from Monty Python - 'Stop that! It's far too silly!'. Bah.

Yeah, but you are in the "trying to avoid debt" phase of cannot afford. I'm in the "trying to avoid maxing out" phase of cannot afford ;)

I owe $4,500 on my car, $17,500 in student loans and $3,500 on my credit card. How is that "trying to avoid debt" and not "trying to avoid maxing out"?

I watched the interview with him on the Keeper of Traken DVD and found him to be a very smug and irritating tosser, and Tom to be very self-effacing and humorous, despite everyone else slagging him off.

I owe £80,000 mortgage, £5,000 on credit card, £3,000 student loan, £1,000 over two overdrafts, and I earn £4,500 a year.

I believe I have you beaten?

Shit.

I do owe $35,000 mortgage, yes. But as I owe that to my mother, not the bank, I tend not to count it.

*huggles*

So far I've only watched the documentary about the transition from Tom to Davison. It's excellent.

the chipmunk that they've cast in Ant's part for season 29 of Who

What's this, what's this? I don't know anything about this! So I was RIGHT about the Master coming back, was I??

The chipmunk from Life on Mars has (reportedly) been cast as The Master.

He is totally unworthy of the beard of evil, and I'm even more pissed off than I was about Tennant.

Hmmm. I'm aware of the guy, but I can't actually think of anything I've seen that he's been in.

He's supposedly a good actor though, is he not?

Ever the optimist, I'll reserve judgement until I see him in action.

* sigh *

I hope your optimism is rewarded.

I couldn't resist. I gave up my recording of Space 1999 - totally ruined my "I'll get every ep on DVD if it kills me" because the lure of Top Gear was just too much.

Bloody hysterical! I love Jezza. Love him to bits. The shower in the car, sabotaging James' aircon with Richard...the cow...big Stig...it was pure genius.

LOL I love the flesh bit of Castrovalva - I'm so looking forward to screencapping it. I never did get around to watching Castrovalva wiht commentary this weekend though.

And please. DON'T remind me about this wholesale bastardisation of the Master that's going to appear in the next series. I could be wrong of course but I doubt it.

Really? I've seen him do evil very very well in the past. He's a bit tiny perhaps, but I'm very much looking forward to him. It's the writing I'm worried about...

You're more than welcome, I'm working in Sheffield at the moment so it would have been quite handy, but never mind.

Drinkies sounds like an excellent idea, just let me know when you fancy it.

and *smoochies* right back

Fandom response in general seems to be almost universally positive, apart from reactionary old-schoolers like me... :S

Noooooooooo. I'd be more likely to accept Eric Roberts as the Master than that little chipmunk from "Life on Mars". Certainly there's someone more worthy of the Beard of Evil... what about Sean Pertwee? Or Richard E. Grant? (Mind you, I'd rather see Grant as the Doctor...) Or even Joseph Fienes - after seeing him in "Shakespeare in Love" and "Elizabeth" it would be nice to see him as a real baddie, just to break with tradition.

Yep, I'm old school... very old school. We need someone who can bring decent casting back to Who. I'd volunteer, but I haven't had any professional experience. *sigh*
