Tonight was the Greetland and Stainland branch quiz night. We lost by one lousy stinking point, but since the prize was wine or chocolate I'm not that bothered. For a gallon of beer I'd have wrestled Martin to the floor, but not for wine. More importantly, there was pie and pea supper, which I ate far more than my fair share of, and homemade rhubarb and raspberry crumble - with home grown fruit - and cream. I had thirds of that. Then I went into the kitchen and polished off what was left in the baking dishes too. It was AMAZING.

They had two handpumps on, and both the beers were quite nice, although almost indistinguishable from each other.

So, in summary: losing Quiz bad, food awesome, beer passable.

The most interesting part of the evening was meeting some of the Elland branch folks. One or two of them were giving me a very "sizing up" look. The head honcho in Elland is called Trevor, so now I have the magical Trevor song in my head again. I'll be going along to the next Elland branch meeting, anyway, to foster inter-branch relations and such.

Other stuff:
And now, it's definitely time for bed. I need to digest all this rhubarb. TTYL, lovely bloggy people.

She's not a Huddersfield Town fan either, but this is about the characters, not the actors. Obviously if it was about the actor, I would pick the Jag-driving, Town-supporting Yorkshireman. There are more important things at stake, here.

I picked on both, Janeway's a close second but not my fave.

Locutus of Borg is sex on a stick, but Picard is too omniscient and moral. He has no character flaws.

I just relate better to quiet people who spend more time in there head than anywhere else. Of course, I'm too likely to tell people that I'm the captain and they can go fuck themselves to be Picardy myself but hey, I'd try :)

Oddly, I identify more with strong and impatient mother figures...

Well, if you want character flaws, watch In the Pale Moonlight, and vote for Benjamin Sisko (as you should do anyway).

Janeway is awesome, but if the question is who is my favorite? It has to be Jean-Luc Picard.

Oh, Captain, my Captain!
