So Mark Reckons posted a couple of very interesting posts.

I linked to him on my own blog, and then I linked to him on the LC netcast, because they WERE very good posts.

[livejournal.com profile] andrewducker picked it up, and linked to it, and discussed it with his f-list... And thanked [personal profile] matgb for the link.

I didn't bother saying anything to Andy because, well, Mat and I ARE practically the same person, and it doesn't really matter, and he must have figured that Mat would be the one to link to it, being the psephology geek of the two of us.

Today, Mark Reckons posts again, thanking ALL the people who have linked to him... Mr Quist, Andrew Ducker, Malcolm Clark, That Tory Blogger, Claude IF Carpentieri, even Millennium... oh, and of course Professional Journalist Polly Toynbee - who isn't male, but IS a paid journo!

Where are all the female bloggers? Where they have always been. Here, blogging, and being ignored by the men, or even when they do notice us, being passed over for credit because people with our little fluffy female brains can't POSSIBLY be serious political bloggers.

You're damn right I'm bitter.

((Thanks for the ETA, Mark, it's very sweet, but I think the Matrix patriarchy has you))

This happens to me quite a lot actually, or I write something and another blogger picks it up and doesn't reference me or link back, or hat tip or anything.

I sometimes forget to hat-tip and link back, but I try to do it every time. For one thing, it helps with the old Wikio stats. ;)

Try this for the logging in.

Ouch! It was a genuine mistake. However if I am compiling a list like this in the future I am going to have to be more thorough I think.

For what it's worth Jennie, I have followed your blog for a while now and am often impressed with what you have to say. I also follow Charlotte and Alix as well and I think Charlotte is my favourite LD blogger so I don't know how that fits with this patriachy you mention.

LOL I don't think you did it on purpose: the patriarchy is not someone making a conscious decision to consider women less than men; it's the way we are all socialised, men and women both, to think of the words men say as more important than the words women say.

If you think you don't do it, you're fooling yourself. Hell, *I* do it sometimes, and I'm on the watch for it.

Being a part of the patriarchy is normal. You're just a normal person. Getting out of its clutches first entails recognising it, and that does not mean saying Well, in amongst all the hundreds of male bloggers I read, I also read three female ones, so I can't be sexist!.

Sometimes we're all sexist, myself included. The way to stop it is to recognise it, not to deny it just because it wasn't something you did on purpose.

Patriachy? Heavens, these days I tend to find myself assuming that women bloggers are right and wondering why the male ones can't be.

LOL that's because you're married to El Presidente, sweetie. I'm sure that concentrates the rightness of female bloggers in the mind ;)

I'm not exactly in the political blogging sphere, but is there any truth to the saying 'on the internet no one knows you're a dog' when it comes to not knowing anyone's sex for sure?

I know people have made erroneous assumptions about my sex based on this blogs username in the past...

And you're not the only female blogger to link him, either - there was Charlotte and Alix, just off the top of my head...

I used to blog using an icon that didn't include a picture of my face.

I stopped when I got sick of nearly everyone I hadn't met IRL and with whom I had an exchange assuming I was a guy because I talked about hard science.
