Oh Joy

One of the customers brought me some cake in to work today. He knows I can't have chocolate, so he got caramel cake. I ate a bit of it before discovering that it had chocolate in. I then had a nice, embarrassing, sweaty meltdown at work. Mat had to come and get me, Liz was not happy, and I am losing out on 6 hours' pay. Luckily I only had a little bit...

Still, a nice feverfew tablet, several hours in a nice dark bedroom, lots of water to drink and lots of snuggles, and I am feeling more human. Hopefully will be fit for work tomorrow, anyway. Can't afford any more time off.

In other news, the fire brigade and the police are currently paying a visit to the house next door but one. We had the police visiting our street last night too, because one of the neighbours had thrown her boyfriend out (and he's already on bail for assaulting a police officer)... So no prospect of sleep for me any time soon. Even when the forces of righteousness aren't being noisy themselves, the dogs are barking at them. I hope the neighbour hasn't burned herself to death or anything.

ETA: one of them is reversing. There's the beepbeepbeep and brakes squealing right outside the window...

Glad you're feeling a bit better. Just a thought on one aspect of your sorry tale...

Liz is entitled to be unhappy if she pays you and also someone else to replace you because you're sick. However, she's not entitled to be unhappy with you if she isn't paying sick pay.

She can be tight or she can be miserable but - even in Yorkshire - it is excessive to be both.

Oh, she still shouldn't be cross at you being poorly, but I hadn't thought of that as a possibility. She's just being miserable but not tight then so I suppose that's allowed.
