• Mark Gatiss is awesome! I may have mentioned this before. But my reason for mentioning it today is the radio documentary he has made on Doctor Who Target Novelisations, which was on at half past 11 today, and was awesome. You can also read an article about it on the BBC website, should you so desire.


• Merlin Missy wonders why, when there are so many female geeks around, we still have to keep shouting Hey! We're here! Well, it's simple, isn't it? So that Russell T Davies and Joss Whedon can try to claim credit for bringing us into the genre... (hat-tip Geeka Chicas/geeka_chicas_feed)


• tyrell tries to find something positive in the horrific murder of Neda Soltani. My condolences to her family and friends, and my rage at the people who think it is OK to kill someone for having an opinion different from theirs.


• And speaking of different opinions, the BNP are in trouble. While I welcome the publicising of some of the BNP's we're not racist, honest constitution, I do worry that this will help them maintain their persecution complex.

While you might generally fail in life in the 23rd century, you excel in pioneering the most successful franchise in TV history. I never really cared for this guy and never really understood why so many people favor the original series over the other spinoffs, but that doesn't mean I don't like him either. Captain Kirk has some endearing qualities and to be fair, his personality on the 60's show couldn't be helped much. It was a primitive time back then and Gene Roddenberry did the best he could to avoid the inevitable 60's cliches. He did a fine job, too, for the most part.

As far as this test is concerned, you got the best result. This man was my favorite captain, and by far. There is no one else out there capable of as much. The man was a great father, a noble religious icon (and one worth his salt, which is rare in that field of expertise), an expert battlefield commander, the most respected human figure in Klingon culture, and a damned good captain. Oh, and he was a god. That's pretty significant by itself. It helps that he was also one of the best actors for the job. His character arc was easily the best in the entire smorgasboard of different Star Trek spinoffs for many reasons.
