Elland councillor and Halifax PPC Diane Park has left the party and is serving out the remainder of her time as a councillor as an independent. I don't fully know what to say about this. I'm posting this in sorrow and bewilderment, really.

I've met Diane a few times and she has always seemed both enthusiastic and lovely. I knew she was annoyed about the expenses thing, but I don't understand how she thinks she is now in a better position to do something about it. I suppose it works as an "I'm distancing myself from the party system" tactic, but although there were good and bad apples in all parties, I genuinely believe that our MPs were the least scummy. I wish we had seized the agenda better, but the take back power thing is a good start.

... Something tells me there is more than just parliamentary expenses behind this, but without talking to Diane I have no idea what that might be.
