The Total Bollocks Guide to Blogging

Click here to vote in the Total Bollocks Best Blogs Poll 2009

OK, so I caved. I blame Andrew Hickey, who has told everyone to vote for me.

For the record, here's who I voted for:
1, Debi Linton
2, Crust of the Grouch
3, Millennium Elephant
4, Charlotte Gore
5, Alex Wilcock
6, Penny Red
7, Feminist Mums
8, Sara Bedford
9, Alix Mortimer
10, John Q Publican
This is why this post is f-locked. Apparently you're not supposed to tell people who you voted for this year. You can solicit votes for yourself, but not for anyone else, apparently. How very Tory.

The order of the people I voted for is deliberate, with those whom I think will get less votes higher up on my list to maximise the impact of the vote. Do feel free to participate if you want to, or ignore it if you want to. Just remember that if you DO participate, you must vote for exactly ten blogs, and number them, or your vote will be discounted.

ETA: since the results are out I have taken the lock off this post.

At least six of those, plus yourself, would have been on my list had I voted...

Two of them were on mine, and a third came close.

You still can, it closes on the 31st.

Not voting because I despise Dale, and as far as I can tell the poll is mostly Iain Dale asking Iain Dale's blog readers to vote on their favourite blog, then Iain Dale telling everyone he's the best blogger in the world. Don't want to give him the legitimacy.
(The ones on that list I'd vote for, BTW, are Debi, Millennium, Alex, Alix, Charlotte and Laurie Penny. They plus Jennie are my must-reads. Other than that, I'd fill out with whoever I felt like including that nanosecond of Mat (who'd be a definite if he posted more) Costigan Quist, Tez Burke, James Graham, Anton Vowl.

Plenty good enough reason for not voting that.

Ooooh. I wonder if I have ten I'd vote for.

*ponders for a while, wishing I'd saved my bookmarks when I reinstalled Windows*

I am more and more in love with Xmarks.com every time I have to change PC or have a new install, all my bookmarks from all 5 of my previous PCs have followed me to this Ubunto install, it's great.

Well, apart from all the crap I need to delete, but I'd rather have too much than not enough. Plus, I have most of my blogs either as feeds or linked to.

I didn't vote. I couldn't think of ten political blogs I read, and the idiotic rule that you MUST vote for ten just really pisses me off.

Indeed, he comes across as an officious jerk.

I really hate people telling me what I MUST do!

Define 'political'. The diambiguation page on Wikipedia for Politics has one of the best definitions--any decision that involves more than one person is a political decision.

Ergo, a restaurant review blog is political--your LJ and WP both definitely count, as do F's--her LJ has so many polls it's definitely politics, even if it is "what should I wear next".

Dale wants it to be just westminster gossip blogs, stopping that shit perpetuating is important.

Um, I'm pissed. Make me turn this into a coherent post when I'm sober?

Oh, I get that just about any blog can be political - I grew up at a time when buying apples and oranges required political decisions!

I just hate the arbitrariness of it - ten and exactly ten.

Fuck him.

Please *do* write something about that. I loathe the Westminster gossip blogs.
