Work, work, glorious Work

Work has been fun this weekend. Vinyl night was a scream last night - someone brought in the It Ain't Half Hot Mum album and we played Whispering Grass and everything! - and people have been generally good-natured and happy. I am knackered, though. Conference takes it out of you, and then not even having a full day to myself between that and three long shifts at work, and my foot still not being 100%... Looking forward to day off tomorrow, that's fer damn sure.

However, I have achieved some stuff. Mostly in the planning of other stuff, but still...

djm4, I have booked a late start for work on that Saturday, so we can go to support opposing teams at the football. My brother is also coming up for that match, and he has a friend supporting Leyton (Wilf, apparently) so maybe some joint transporty thing might be a plan? I know you'll have small people with you, but still, greenery and all.

And... I just read that preceding paragraph back to myself and realised how much I am failing in the eloquence department this evening.

I am off to get rascally drunk. More blogging tomorrow, and exorcising of the plot bunnies that are bouncing about it my head thanks to your prompts :D

I'm happy to give people lifts up to the match (I'll be leaving Leytonstone around 8am and have four free seats in the car), but as I'll be staying over and can't give them lifts back, that may not be much use. The kids will be returning with lizw the next day, but (a) in a smaller car that probably doesn't have any spare seats and (b) I don't want to assume they'd be OK with passengers.

In that case, just to be doubly clear, I'm not driving south of Watford Gap until Friday 30th, and the car that is returning with the kids on Sunday 25th probably won't have space in it. I'm very happy to drive folk up on the morning of Saturday 24th, though.

Clarity appreciated. This looks like it might actually come together. If Wilf did have a lift, he would only want to go one way. I would then bring him back half way, either after the game or the next day. Transport from mine home is easy for him.

I'll see what his thoughts are ...

I'm still very happy to do this. I'll be leaving Leytonstone around 8am on the Saturday (as I'll be wanting to check in at the hotel and get lunch before the game), but can pick your friend up from anywhere in the area on the way.

It looks like the lift is no longer required. The Leytonstoneshireite in question has now got to spend that weekend finding new wheels as his have fallen off (so to speak).
Perhaps I'll get to meet you there though. I still hope to attend myself and stay over with the delightful miss_S_B.

No- a magnificent writer who expresses himself in a certain way, through obscenity, & manages to convey ideas not despite but because of his language. Let him be blogrolled by them as want to be respected rather than shunned by polite society.

I am of course not comparable to him as I am not as good, but I have been known to work in a similar vein on occasion, albeit with a bit less effectiveness. I'm sure I have overdone it, though I now try to curb any excesses, but it is good to use obscenity if there's something behind it.

There's many a writer who produces nice prose but says nothing of any worth or significance, but is hailed for no good reason. They, as you know, have a tendency to take themselves unduly seriously. I know who I choose to associate with.
