• Winning here? Buried in this fluff piece for Gordon on the BBC is the news that (at least according to Ipsos Mori) we have now overtaken the Labour party in terms of popularity. No wonder Gordon wants a head to head with CallMeDave and to freeze Cleggy out....(hat-tip Jo Swinson, sassyscot and many others)


• Interesting statistical analysis of the costs of the BBC. Radio 4 is TOTALLY worth it IMHO.


• Gin fuelled the industrial revolution. And it's currently fuelling me :D (hat-tip karohemd)

I'm assuming the mysterious JHSB is tracking their links, in which case I would say to them SORT YOUR BLOODY FEED OUT, YOU TRUNCATOR! :P

And today's meme is a simple one: answer me a question! Should I go to MPH or the Bike show this year? MPH is more of a spectacle, but the bike show is more fun, I think. In both cases I reckon I could wangle a room with my brother; one of them my brother will want to go to, the other my dad. What do you guys reckon?

Looks fine to me - if you look, it has a summary followed by the full text - exactly as mine does - http://andrewhickey.info/feed is exactly the same format, and I know my settings are to have the feed be full text...

And just the other I said if there was going to be a poll putting us ahead of Labour it would have happened by now. Delighted to be proved wrong, even if it is only a post-Conference bounce.

Mind you, I'm not sure I entirely trust that BBC story:

It is the first time Labour have been in third place since February 1982, when they were on 33% compared to 34% for the Liberal-SDP Alliance.

That would have left at most 33% for Thatcher's Tories, and Labour in joint second at worst.

No, that looks about right, Thatcher was in serious trouble in the very early 80s, big recession, etc--she bought reelection with the Falklands. Studied '83 at close level as part of the degree, some very weird stuff going on in the poll.

Hang on, no they couldn't have been in 3rd place if they were beating Thatcher, but the alliance did top 50% at one point in the polling cycle.

I've found the bike show disappointing recently - unless it's got loads better, I'm going to have to say MPG, in an entirely unexpected reversal from me.

Now that IS interesting. I have to say, I found it a bit dull last year; but daddy and I are on about taking licenses and booking ride-outs this year...
