So, the Torygraph have printed an article which is going to piss off a lot of people in the Lib Dems. There are a couple of theories as to the source: one is that the parliamentary Lib Dems haven't thought through how controversial the idea is and have leaked it themselves because they are proud of it, and/or are running it up the flagpole to see who salutes. The other theory is that the tories know it will cause the Lib Dems to fight like cats in a sack and have leaked it and are right now popping corn. Dear reader, which of these theories do you think is more likely?

I think I did too much on Monday going to the doctor's AND to work to drop off my sick note because I was completely wiped out yesterday. I got out of bed for maybe 2 hours in the evening. The whole "don't lift anything heavier than a cup of tea for at least three weeks" thing is getting very old. Things heavier than a cup of tea which I normally lift without thinking include:
  • Roxy
  • Holly
  • plates of food, pots and pans
  • pints of beer
Thankfully, [personal profile] magister has stuck around to be nursemaid, which is lovely. It takes a lot of the pressure off [personal profile] matgb, and means that I don't have to plan everything (even going to the toilet) like a military manoeuvre. And Holly thinks it's fab because she adores him. And we have done lots of podcast bits; expect episode 2 today at some point.

Doggies are being great; Roxy has only jumped on me once, and Byron is being SO gentle with me.... Mind you, he knows what surgery is like.

Anyway, an important question has arisen which I think you should all answer:

Fresh Squeezings From the Veins of the Internet. Well, mostly from Andrew Ducker's Delicious Glue feed, actually.
  • Hyperbole and a Half tells the story of my Life. I love this bit:
The longer I procrastinate on returning phone calls and emails, the more guilty I feel about it. The guilt I feel causes me to avoid the issue further, which only leads to more guilt and more procrastination. It gets to the point where I don't email someone for fear of reminding them that they emailed me and thus giving them a reason to be disappointed in me.
    I recognise this so hard...

  • Bloggess gets a new shrink. This is another thing I recognise very hard.

  • Why the Tories got more votes than anyone else.

  • Doctor Hoo - What if Doctor Who was all owly?

  • And finally, something slightly more serious: how to combat mysogyny: a speech at the UN (hat-tip: Caron)

Today's Beyond Belief is talking about poly relationships, and the interview with the poly guy was quite interesting. He didn't make enough of communication for my liking, but he did ok. Unfortunately, they are having a post match discussion and the monogamous Christian guy is making me want to scream and throw things at the radio with his level of Not Getting It. He is going on about how broken promises hurt people and things, and ignoring the fact that in a poly relationship you don't make promises of monogamy by definition. The wanker. There's a very reasonable woman called Lisa who is cheering me up, though.

Helen has claimed in an email that she is now unshockable when it comes to the filthy depraved things people get up to in the bedroom. So post something filthy and depraved that YOU have done in the comments here, and prove her wrong.

or, alternatively, pick a better 21st century heroine than Sarah Brown, who for some (Harper's) Bizarre reason has chosen Naomi Campbell.

I think mine would have to be El Presidente, who has quietly and efficiently gone from local politics novice to baroness and president of the party, and is now going about revolutionising the internal workings of the party without any fuss (or much thanks), yet has still remained a lovely person.

Sadly, among the things I will never be are quiet, efficient, and lovely ;)

The thing is, like so much else's of BBC News' output, that version will never recover from the excruciating contribution made by Nick Robinson and Jug Ears Marr.

No, my favourite always has been, and always will be, the cross-channel and endearingly amateurish:

Comic Relief Version. Partly for the Boyz From the Dwarf, and Seth from Emmerdale, and partly for the poignant appearance by Jill Dando, but mostly for the contribution of the Drop The Dead Donkey Team. My own answer is the second one, and if that's not possible, the third. I would view it as theft to take the money. Yes, a small theft, with very little chance of any consequence for myself, but theft none the less. Mat says he would take the money, citing the harm principle. I can understand his argument, but it would feel wrong to me to take the money.

What do you lot think?

In other news, because I bitched at Sensei Puddin' on Friday about how my legs were killing me after Thursday's karate session, we did lots more leggy stuff tonight. Or perhaps I am investing myself with too much importance. Either way, my legs are killing me again.

Still, it's doing me good, and I am feeling the benefit when I'm NOT completely knackered. Healthiness is a good thing.

Firstly, it's coming up to the 21st of the month which is when I change sponsor. I do have one lined up, but he's not been particularly active on his blog, so I'm not sure it's worth his money me linking to him at the moment; also he's a PPC, so sensibly his timeslot should be the month before the election... Anybody fancy giving me some money for next month? Or anybody I owe money to fancy reducing my debt a bit? Drop me an email (jennieDOTriggATgooglemailDOTcom) or leave a comment to this post if you want to appear at the bottom of my every post for the next month.

Secondly, my sidebar is getting too big, so I am going to take some stuff out of it. The thing is, I don't want to take stuff out that people find useful. I'm going to merge sponsors and quotes into "endorsements" and have a post to link to for the majority of them. I am also thinking of removing page summary, and possibly the tag cloud. What do you guys think about this?

Thirdly, if you read blogs but don't write your own, you might want to take a look at this (non-partisan) series of posts on Lib Dem Voice. My lovely fiancé's instalment has just gone up, and I will be writing a little bit for it myself later in the year.
