AC Cobra 1

Look! Look! One of the customers came in to work today in an AC Cobra, and he let me and Liz sit in it! I sat in the driver's seat! And it smelled of leather and it was amazing!

Project: fitness

So I do karate, and I do climbing, and my job is fairly physical. I'm not hugely out of shape. But I'm not fit either. I smoke, and I drink, and my diet isn't the healthiest it could be. So despite my activeness, my thighs are big and wibbly, and I am a size 14.

The car going dicky again has spurred me into doing something about this. So I got my pushbike up from the cellar and pumped its tyres up and... Well, it took me less than half an hour to cycle home from work, which is three and a half miles. And my thighs are a bit burny, but I got my breath back really quickly. So I'm quite proud of myself.

Suspect it will get old quite quickly though...

Stuff

I'm not going to comment too much on the Jan Moir/PCC thing. Millennium says everything I could have wanted to. I am annoyed to be on the same side as the Egregious Tory Tosser, though, who is holding forth on the radio at the moment.

I am, instead, going to concentrate on good things.
  1. I have arranged for a bit of time off from work next week to use the return train ticket which is burning a hole in my pocket. I shall therefore be in London and surrounding areas Monday evening till Thursday lunchtime. If you live in or around London and want to see me, please take note. It would be particularly nice if someone can offer me a place to crash Monday night, as Duracell bunny won't be around until Tuesday afternoon. All offers gratefully recieved.

  2. Mat and I stopped off at the pipeworks on the way home from work, and got some fabulous discarded old pipes to use as plant pots in the garden. Pictures will be forthcoming when they're planted up.

  3. I have karate tonight YAY!

  4. Plans to get Kaligula up for sale on eBay are approaching fruition. If you know anyone who wants to buy a car, watch this space.

  5. And finally, I want this on a t-shirt:

And I think it would suit [livejournal.com profile] burlesque_bunny too ;)

A Short Break

I am working ridiculously long hours this weekend, so probably won't see you all until Monday, when I shall be unveiling my new sponsor. Thanks for the advice on the car, I shall have to beg for more money to get it MOTed. I hate being in debt... It's so frustrating that Mat actually HAS a job now, but we won't actually start seeing any money from it for at least another month.

Anyway, say goodbye to Ozzy...

Bike Show

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 06:51 pm
miss_s_b: (TG: Powaaaahhh!!!)
I am typing this on my brother [personal profile] angeliiiii's computer. I think you should all be told that I am being forced to use IE because he is a disciple of Gates and mistrusts Firefox. Eurgh. I feel dirty.

Anyway, the bike show was fab. I sat on lots and lots of bikes, and although my little leggies were too short for many of them, they were fine on the ones I actually want - the Triumph Daytona 675SE (hubba hubba), which will be for if I get a stonking great pay rise, or the more realistic Kawasaki Ninja 250R. The only problem I can see with the little Kwakker is that if I get one, I'll want it in Black, and Holly will want it in Green...

Daddy, meanwhile, has fallen in love with the Versys. His current bike is a V-strom, and the Versys is very similar in spec, but the physical size and shape of it is different enough to make a big difference to handleability.

We looked at a lot of helmets and boots, and Dad ended up getting a Roof Boxer like the one I used to have (except in blue to match his bike), and I ended up confirming my suspicion that no helmet is ever going to fit me as well as my Shoei (you'd be amazed the number of them that try to lobotomise you), although I DID rather like a couple of the Scorpion ones... Of course it does help that Scorpion make this (which I SO want).

Anyhoo, bike show good. Off to watch the footie with my bro now. Apparently we're playing Tranmere...

Kiva

miss_s_b: Peter Falk as Columbo saying "just one more thing" (Mood: And another thing)
Some time ago [livejournal.com profile] caseytalk bought me a $25 Kiva credit for Christmas (or possibly my birthday). For those of you who don't know what it is, Kiva is a microlending site. They lend small amounts of money to people in poor countries to help them get or maintain work. I chose to lend my $25 (along with several other people) to a lady in Vietnam so she could buy a motorcycle to travel to work on.

I got notification today that she had paid back all the money :D

Which meant that I had $25 to lend out again... So I found another lady in need of a motorbike and lent the money to her :D

[personal profile] miss_s_b, helping lady bikers out $25 at a time since 2008 :D

Help?

Thursday, October 15th, 2009 05:30 pm
miss_s_b: (Mood: Facepalm)
I know a fair bit about cars, but obviously not enough... Anyone know why Kaligula is producing stuff that looks like long straight hair from his exhaust pipe? He doesn't seem poorly or anything, but obviously this is not normal. I wondered if it might be something to do with his catalytic converter, and then I realised (to my shame) that I don't even know if he has one...

Anyone Want a Carver?

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 01:47 am
miss_s_b: (TG: LLCoolJ)
Well, yes, I know we ALL want a Carver, but does anyone REALLY want a Carver? You see, my brother, [personal profile] angeliiiii, spent so long trying to get hold of one that people are still telling him when one comes up for sale, even though he now has a nice pretty battleship grey one with I support Huddersfield Town stickers all over it. So if anyone fancies one in Stealth Black, and has a spare bit of cash floating around, now's your chance. My bro sent me some pictures:

Carver small

If you want to know how much it is and whereabouts in the UK it is and stuff, you'll have to ask [personal profile] angeliiiii though. He neglected to vouchsafe that information to me.

I will tell you, though, that having had a ride in my bro's Carver, it is the most funnest thing you can be on the road in without having to wear a helmet and leathers.

I am going to attempt to backread. I may be some time.

Automotive porn I saw this weekend:

Lambo Gallardo. Guh. Drool. Etc.
Porche Carrera GT with ceramic brakes. Wow, a Porche I don't hate. Still overpriced, though. I'd rather have the Lambo.
TWO new Sprint STs... Mmmmmmmm pretty
And...

The Daytona 675 *vic 'n bob thigh rubbing*

OMG it's gorgeous. If possible, even MORE gorgeous in the metal than in pictures. I want it, and I want it now.

Plus random assorted 911s, S-classes, etc. And enough Honda CBR600s to sink a battleship.

Scotland is stunning even when it's dreary and wet, which it was only about a third of the time. Ian took LOADS of pictures with his posh new camera; on the sunny days we could see Cumbria AND the I Love Man AND Ireland from our chalet, but mostly the I Love Man. The 7 mile walk from St Ninian's Cave back to the chalet was an almost spiritual experience. Even with factor 50 sun cream I have gone a sort of pale creamish colour instead of pure brilliant white, and my Michael Jackson nose has returned.

I would move to Scotland tomorrow if I won the lottery.

And then I'd miss Yorkshire and want to move back, and probably end up with some sort of 50/50 arrangement.

Doctor Who (on a very crackly portable telly) on Saturday was actually pretty enoyable (yay) although it hasn't totally restored my faith in RTD as there were SOME cringy moments. Further details when I've watched the repeat on a decent sized screen.

I have a drabble brewing.

A momentous thing; I've finally found a BF Audio Who I haven't enjoyed. Medicinal Purposes was sloppily plotted and characterisation was nowhere near as tight as I've grown to expect. And Daft Jamie made me want to scream and kill him he was SO annoying, which shouldn't be a surprise, except that I SWEAR I didn't look at the cast list until after I listened to it...

Falling Off

So I fell off my bike and failed the CBT...

To cheer myself up I've been burying myself in Pythonism

Well, u-- um, can we come up and have a look?
