Is it Over Yet? Can I Come Out?

As someone who has worked in public houses for many years, I have come to dread "Paddy's" aka St Patrick's Day aka International Get Pissed And Shout At People For No Reason Day.

Even the sanest of people seems to see Paddy's as an excuse to let down their hair, their morals, and more often than you'd think, their trousers. And then sing songs which they think of as Irish (usually something by Thin Lizzy) badly, out of tune, and getting the words worng. Then drink some more. Then throw up.

I fucking hate it.

And tomorrow morning (or rather, later today) I get to go and clean up after it in my workplace. I'm going in an hour before opening tomorrow, and my job will be the toilets. If there's one stall without puke and/or poo smeared all over it I shall count myself lucky.

Yea, that's why I decided to stay home, watch "Waking Ned Devine" for the umpteenth time and pet my cat instead.

I loathe Guinness anyway...

That's definitely a more productive use of one's time than getting shitfaced and making life harder for other people, for sure!

I really need to learn how to sew. My mother can, but never really taught me for some reason (probably because I had the attention span of a gnat as a child... actually that hasn't changed much, LOL)

That's one of the things I love about being in Wales is that it really isn't that big a deal here.

(And it's not like anyone Welsh needed an excuse to celebrate last night). ;-)

I spent St Patrick's Day evening on stage cracking jokes about the Famine. As you do.

The Paddy's Day madness doesn't really reach Barnes, to be honest. The pubs aren't really set up for sports, so the rugby crowds went elsewhere and when we hit the Sun Inn at 11:30, it was downright quiet for a Saturday.

I avoid pubs like the plague on St Patrick's Day.
