"Britain's Hardest Grafter". Is it just me, or did anyone else read that as "Britain's Most Pointlessly Aggressive Corrupt Official"? (In which case Chris Grayling surely has it in the bag...)

I know. I'm just astonished at how hamfistedly. Someone writing the Queen's Speech with the intention of making this government look as stupid and mendacious as possible could scarcely have done so more effectively.

No he didn't; he fooled a load of news outlets into printing a story which was basically, 'man bites dog'.

There's no evidence at all that anyone, either those who published it or those who read it, actually believed it, as opposed to simply publishing / reading it because it seemed to go against received opinion and then promptly forgetting it.
