If a person says they are a man, they're a man. If a person says they are a lady, they're a lady. If a person says they don't recognise your gender binary, and fuck you? They're whatever they say they are.

Can we please stop fucking over transfolk and non-binary or non gender specific people? it doesn't help ANYONE and it makes life really shitty for really vulnerable people and people are people and deserve love and respect and things.

I find it even simpler than that.

If a person wants me to call them a man, then not doing so would be being impolite. If a person wants me to call them a woman then not doing so would be being impolite. And if a person wants me to avoid gender-specific terms and use specific pronouns, then not doing so would be impolite.

I refuse to get caught up in definitions of gender, and what "really" makes a person a man or a woman. That way interminable internet arguments lie. The only thing that matters to me is "Am I treating this person decently, and taking their wishes about how they wish to be treated into account."

Yes yes yes. This is exactly it, ditto "your name is what you say you'd like to be called".

One of my youngest nieces (nearly 5) decided she is a boy (she hasn't asked to be refered to by different pronouns but I suspect she doesn't know she can). This has been now been true for more than a year which does leave us all wondering if it is more than childhood playing with gender identity

She has agreed to be a girl a school, I do worry about what issues she might face even within the family of she decides she identifies as male or non binary let alone with the rest of the world
