And while I disagree with that amendment, and expressed my views about it at the time, I'm not going to pretend that there isn't a liberal argument for it. I personally would say "if you have religious objections to SSM then be a religious celebrant, not a secular registrar", but I can see the argument for people not being forced to perform ceremonies they have moral objections to.

I am not saying that his actions have (or have not) been influenced by his religious beliefs. I am saying that whatever his beliefs are, I am going to judge him on his actions, not on what I speculate might be on the inside of his head. I don't think his overall voting record by any means mirrors exactly what I would have done were I in parliament, but it's a damn sight closer than pretty much any other MP in parliament, including several in the Lib Dems, mentioning no names.
